Essential Tub Faucet Parts – Having knowledge of different tub faucet parts will help you better diagnose problems and even foresee any before they happen.
Different Types of Tub Faucets
Not all tub faucets are made the same. There are four basic types of tub faucets. These are;
• Compression Faucets
• Disc Faucets
• Cartridge Faucets
• Ball-type Faucets
Each different style has the same basic function, but they do have different tub faucet parts.
Compression Tub Faucet Parts
This type has two separate handles to regulate the flow and temperature of the water. It works on the principle of rubber washers that are compressed, and either cut off the flow of water or increase it.
Disc Tub Faucet Parts
This type of faucet has one handle with two ceramic discs inside the tube assembly. When the handle is lifted, the discs move across each other, allowing holes to line up to regulate water flow. If there is a problem, it is usually because one of these discs is leaking.
Cartridge Tub Faucet Parts
This type has a movable plastic cartridge that moves up and down the handle to line up holes to regulate the water. These can be either single or double handled, and they are easily fixed because you just have to drop in a new cartridge.
Ball-Type Faucet Parts
This type gets its name from the stainless steel ball in the handle, the part that is moved to mix the hot and cold water in order to get the right temperature and water flow.
