Single Handle Shower Faucet Installation or Replacemenet Tips

How to Install a Single Handle Bathroom Shower Faucet? Single Handle Shower Faucet Installation Tips is helpful to your shower faucet replacement or repair. Single handle shower faucets are the most common types of faucets used in modern homes. Unlike other two handle shower faucets, which have separate handles for hot water and cold water, single handle faucets allow you to control the flow of both hot and cold water through a common lever. Installing a single lever shower faucet is a fairly simple task and takes hardly 20 minutes. All you need to do is follow these steps.

Tools and Materials Required

  • Single handle shower faucet
  • Faucet repair kit
  • Towel
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Needle nose pliers

Step 1 – Select an Appropriate Size

Before starting with the installation, measure the pipe spacing and cavity size of where the shower faucet is to be placed. Any style may be used; however the size must be accurate otherwise the faucet would not fit the holes. So note down the measurements and buy the right size.

Step 2 – Removal of Old Shower Faucet

Turn off the water supply before installing the single-handle shower faucet. It is advisable that a towel be placed under the opening since excess water may still be present in the pipes. After doing that, use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the plastic cap at the center of the faucet handle. Now, remove the stainless steel sleeve. Once that is done, use the Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the faucet handle. Move the screw driver in a counterclockwise direction. Separate the handle from the faucet assembly. When this is done, remove the U-shaped clip. The U-shaped clip holds the faucet in its place in the assembly. With the help of needle nose pliers, remove the faucet.

Step 3 – New Single Handle Shower Faucet Installation

Before starting with the installation, place all the pieces next to you in an organized manner. This may make it simple for you to know which piece is to be placed after another. First is the faucet, followed by a U-shaped clip, stainless steel sleeve, faucet handle, and plastic cap. Now, use a pair of pliers to put the faucet into the assembly. Once that is done, slide the U-shaped clip over the faucet. On the faucet, place the stainless steel sleeve. Now fix the shower faucet handle over the faucet. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screw of the faucet handle. It should be screwed in a clockwise direction. Do it carefully making sure the threads of the screw don’t get stuck or else the handle will not be screwed on properly. After this is done, place the plastic cap on the handle.

Step 4 – Turn On Water Supply

Once the installation of single handle shower faucet is complete, turn the water supply on and check for any leakage. If there is no leakage, you have installed the single handle shower faucet properly. You may then clean up the site and store away your tools safely.
